Precipitation module (TC-PRISMA)

The Precipitation module (TC-PRISMA) is an add-on module which treats concurrent nucleation, growth/dissolution and coarsening under arbitrary heat treatment conditions in multi-component and multi-phase systems using Langer-Schwartz theory and the Kampmann-Wagner numerical approach. The Precipitation module (TC-PRISMA) extends the functionality available through Thermo-Calc and the Diffusion module (DICTRA) and can be used for calculations of:

  • Concurrent nucleation, growth/dissolution and coarsening of precipitates
  • Temporal evolution of particle size distribution
  • Average particle radius and number density
  • Volume fraction and composition of precipitate
  • Nucleation rate and coarsening rate
  • Time-Temperature-Precipitation (TTP) diagrams
  • Estimation of multi-component interfacial energy

The Precipitation module (TC-PRISMA) uses the same thermodynamic and kinetic databases as available for Thermo-Calc and the Diffusion module (DICTRA).

The Precipitation module (TC-PRISMA) offers a user friendly and intuitive Java-based Graphic User Interface (GUI). With only a few clicks and inputs, a simulation can be setup and performed. After the simulation is completed the results can be plotted directly and, if desired, compared with pre-compiled experimental data. The obtained figures can be edited, printed and saved into common graphic formats.
